Locked-Town

During the second Covid-19 lockdown, I got stuck in a small town of Liguria, named Sesta Godano, where my brother was living. It’s a typical Italian small town shrouded in hills and geographically isolated; the nearest significant city is La Spezia, 40 kilometers by motorway. Like many of us, frustrated by being stuck within four walls and seeing the same face over and over again (in my case my brother’s), I started going out with my photocamera. Soon I realised the beauty of this small town and also its tragic side: young people tend to move away given the dearth of opportunities that place offers so it is hard to find them around. I took these images on my multiple walks, long and short, during lockdown stay and some taken during other visits. I didn’t keep any shopping list of photos with me to shoot, I am in love with this town and documented whatever I have seen.
